Amazon Does Not Have Physical Stores
Amazon operates as an online retailer without brick-and-mortar stores in the traditional sense. Customers cannot walk into an Amazon location to browse, shop, or interact with staff the way they can at Walmart store hours, Target store hours, or Aldi store hours. However, Amazon does provide physical pickup and return options through its network of lockers and counters.
If you are looking for a place to pick up an Amazon order or return an item, you will use one of Amazon’s designated pickup locations rather than a traditional store. These locations operate under different hours depending on where they are located and what type of pickup point they are.
How to Find Amazon Pickup Location Hours
Amazon offers three main types of pickup locations: Amazon Lockers, Amazon Counters, and UPS AccessPoints. Each location has its own hours of operation that vary based on the specific site and time of year.
To find hours for a pickup location near you, follow these steps:
- Go to Amazon’s pickup location finder at Amazon.com
- Enter your address or zip code to see available pickup points
- Hours of operation will display for each location option during checkout
- Select the pickup point that fits your schedule before completing your order
According to Amazon’s official customer service page, hours vary depending on the pickup point and the time of year. When you search for and select pickup points, the times of each one are indicated. Once you have placed your order, you can check the pickup point opening hours by selecting Order Details in Your Orders.
Pickup locations that are closed temporarily do not appear in the list of options, so you will only see active locations when shopping.
What to Know About Amazon Locker Hours
Amazon Lockers are self-service kiosks located in retail stores, office buildings, and other high-traffic areas. They operate 24 hours a day at many locations, though some may have limited hours. Hours depend on where the locker is installed.
When you place an order for Amazon Locker delivery:
- You must indicate who will pick up the order using the full name as it appears on the person’s ID
- The system automatically assigns the account owner as the recipient, but you can modify this if someone else is picking up
- The person picking up must present identification matching the name on the order
- Hours will display when you select the locker during checkout
Some Amazon Lockers operate around the clock, while others have set hours. Always check the specific hours for the locker you select before placing your order.
Amazon Counter Pickup and Hours
Amazon Counters are located inside retail partners and operate during that partner’s business hours. Common locations include Whole Foods, Kohl’s, and other retailers. Because they are inside partner stores, their hours match the host store’s hours, not a separate Amazon schedule.
To pick up at an Amazon Counter:
- Place your order and select an Amazon Counter location during checkout
- Hours will show based on the partner store’s schedule
- Bring a valid ID with your name matching the order
- Give your name at the counter and receive your package
- You must pick up within the specified timeframe shown in your order details
Unlike home delivery, Amazon Counter pickup is available only at participating locations. Not all areas have Amazon Counters nearby.
Returning Items at Amazon Pickup Locations
You can return eligible items at Amazon pickup locations. According to Amazon’s official return information, not all pickup locations accept returns, but all available return options will be presented when you submit a return request.
To return an item at a pickup location:
- Log into your Amazon account and go to Your Orders
- Select the item you want to return and submit a return request
- Amazon will send an email containing return instructions
- Choose a return-eligible pickup location from the options presented
- Take the package to that location during their operating hours
Before returning, check the hours of the location you selected. Hours are shown when you pick your return location, and you can confirm them again in Your Orders by selecting Order Details. Make sure to return your package within the return window. For more details on return eligibility and timeframes, see the Amazon return policy.
Key Differences from Other Retailers
Unlike physical retailers such as Costco store hours or Sam’s Club store hours, which maintain their own storefronts with consistent daily schedules, Amazon’s pickup points have individual hours that vary by location. There is no single Amazon store hours schedule you can rely on across all regions.
The most important step is checking hours when you place your order. Amazon displays hours during checkout so you can confirm they work for your schedule before you buy. This prevents the mistake of selecting a pickup point that closes before you can retrieve your package.
