Internal Price Matching on Costco.com
If you buy an item on Costco.com and the price drops within 30 days of your purchase date, you can request a price match credit. This applies to regular price reductions, not just promotional sales. Once your request is approved, Costco typically issues credits within 5 to 10 business days to the original form of payment you used.
To request a price match on a Costco.com purchase, select the Request a Price Match button on the Costco customer service website and complete the form. Before you submit, check whether a promotional price was already deducted from your order, as this affects eligibility.
The company reserves the right to deny a price match request at its sole discretion. Costco may also restrict its price match policy in the future, and any changes will be shown at the point of purchase.
Important Limitations and Exclusions
Precious metals are not eligible for price matching or promotions under any circumstances.
Costco does not price match between its warehouse locations and Costco.com. Prices on the website take shipping and handling fees into account, which do not apply to in-warehouse purchases. This means you cannot buy an item in a Costco warehouse and then ask for a price match if the same item costs less on Costco.com, or vice versa.
Resellers have different rules. They must purchase items during valid promotional dates to receive the promotional price. Non-reseller members and products have broader eligibility for price matches within the 30-day window.
Promotional Items with Specific Sale Dates
Some items have defined promotional periods with start and end dates, such as holiday savings promotions. For these items, a price match request must be submitted within both the active promotional dates and 30 days of purchase. If you wait until after the promotion ends to request a price match, your request may be denied.
Products with promotional item limits are eligible for price matching up to that limit quantity. For example, if a promotion allows 2 items per member, you can request a price match on up to 2 units.
Warehouse Location Price Matching
If you purchased an item at a Costco warehouse location and the price dropped, inquire at the Returns counter where you made your purchase. The official policy does not specify a time window for warehouse price match requests like it does for Costco.com (30 days), so ask at your location for their specific procedures.
Special Cases: Tires, Wheels, and Home Improvement
Tire and wheel purchases are eligible for price matching if all other conditions are met. Online tire purchases require you to submit a price match request through the Costco.com form. Warehouse tire purchases should be handled at the warehouse where you made the original purchase.
Special order kiosk items and home improvement installed products follow different promotional rules. Price matching for these items is based on the signed contract date and pre-tax price. Exceptions to qualify for additional Costco Shop Card value are limited to the 14 days before and 14 days after official promotion dates. Costco Shop Card promotions cannot be combined with other manufacturer consumer promotions or incentives. Contact your Costco authorized dealer to determine whether your project qualifies for past or current promotions.
No Receipt or Return Alternative
If you are not satisfied with any Costco purchase for any reason, Costco will accept the item for a full refund, subject to limitations. This serves as a safety net if price matching does not apply or is denied, though the Costco Return Policy has specific exclusions you should review.
How to Request a Price Match
For Costco.com purchases: Log into your Costco.com account, find the order, and select the Request a Price Match button. Complete the online form with details of your purchase. Check whether any promotional discount was already applied before submitting, as this affects your eligibility. You will receive a response within a few business days, and approved credits typically post within 5 to 10 business days.
For warehouse purchases: Visit the Returns counter at the Costco warehouse location where you made your purchase. Bring your membership card and receipt if you have it. Ask about a possible price match on the item and explain when you purchased it and what the current price is.
Neither Costco.com nor warehouse staff can price match against other retailers. You cannot bring a competitor’s price into a Costco warehouse and ask for a match. Only internal Costco price reductions within the specified time window qualify.
