Price Match Requests in Store
If you purchased an item at a Walgreens store and the price later drops on Walgreens.com, you can ask your local store to price match to the lower Walgreens.com regular price. You must bring the receipt or order number and the item to the store. A Walgreens team member will validate the price by checking Walgreens.com themselves. Screenshots or printouts will not be accepted as proof.
Price match is limited to one transaction per customer per day. Stores also reserve the right to limit the amount of price adjustments made in a single transaction, meaning you cannot adjust prices on an unlimited number of items at once. This is a discretionary store-level policy, so the specific limit may vary by location.
Note that price match requirements are subject to change, so confirm the current policy with your local store before making a request.
Major Exclusions from Price Match
Walgreens price match does not apply to several categories. The following are explicitly excluded from price match eligibility:
- Online sale or promotional offers
- Internet search engine pricing
- Pricing resulting from a typographical error
- Previous days pricing
- Contact lenses
- Photo products
- Pharmacy items
- Health services
If you are comparing prices, you must use the regular price on Walgreens.com, not sale prices, coupon discounts, or prices from other websites. The Walgreens price match policy applies only to Walgreens.com regular pricing.
Item Requirements for Price Match
The item you want to price match must be identical to what you originally purchased in every detail. Walgreens requires that the item match in brand name, description, size, weight, color, quantity, and model number. If any of these attributes differ, even slightly, the store is not obligated to honor the price match request.
For example, if you bought a 16-ounce bottle of a product and the lower price online is for a 12-ounce bottle, these are not the same item and cannot be price matched. Similarly, different colors or sizes of the same product must match exactly.
What Happens If the Item Is Out of Stock
If the item you want to price match is out of stock at your local store, Walgreens will not issue a rain check for the price match. You must have the item in stock at the store to complete the price match transaction. However, Walgreens does offer rain checks for items that are advertised in the weekly ad but out of stock. Walgreens store hours and product availability can be checked online before visiting.
Rain checks for advertised items are valid for 60 days from the date issued. In some cases, a store employee may authorize substitution of a similar product from the same brand at the advertised price, though this is at the store’s discretion.
Online Orders and Price Drops
The sources do not specify whether Walgreens will refund the price difference on an online order if the price drops before the item ships or within a certain window after purchase.
The price match policy described above applies only to in-store requests at a physical Walgreens location. If you purchased an item online and the price drops, you would need to return the item under the return policy and repurchase it at the new price, or contact Customer Service at 1-877-250-5823 to ask about options specific to your order. For questions about returns and refunds, see the Walgreens return policy.
Comparison with Other Policies
Walgreens price match is limited to in-store requests and does not price match to competitors. If you are interested in how Walgreens handles manufacturer coupons or other promotional discounts, review the Walgreens coupon policy. Other major retailers have different price adjustment rules, so compare carefully if you shop at multiple stores.
