What Walgreens Will and Won’t Price Match

Walgreens will match the regular price shown on Walgreens.com, but only for items that meet specific criteria. The item must be identical in brand name, description, size, weight, color, quantity, and model number. A Walgreens team member will validate the current price on Walgreens.com at the time of your request.

Walgreens explicitly excludes the following from price matching:

• Online sale or promotional offers
• Internet search engine pricing
• Prices from other retailers (Walgreens only matches its own website)
• Contact lenses
• Photo services
• Pharmacy items
• Health services
• Pricing resulting from typographical errors
• Previous day’s pricing

If you want to compare Walgreens against other chains, note that CVS price match policy, Kroger price match policy, and Publix price match policy each have their own rules and eligible competitors.

How to Request a Price Match

To request a price match, bring the item to the register and tell the cashier or customer service associate that you want to price match it to Walgreens.com. The associate will look up the current regular price on Walgreens.com themselves. Do not bring a printed screenshot, photo, or written proof of the price, because Walgreens will not accept them as validation. The store team member must verify the price directly from Walgreens.com in real time.

Price match is limited to one transaction per customer per day. Stores also reserve the right to limit the number of price adjustments made in a single transaction, so if you are requesting multiple price matches, the store may adjust some items but not others at their discretion.

Stock and Rain Check Rules

If the item you want to price match is out of stock at your local store, Walgreens will not issue a rain check. This means you cannot reserve the Walgreens.com price for a future purchase of that item if it is not currently available in the store.

Rain checks work differently for items on sale in the store’s weekly ad. If an advertised item is out of stock, Walgreens will issue a rain check that is valid for 60 days. However, this applies only to in-store purchases and in-store sales, not to price match requests. In some cases, a store employee may authorize substitution of a similar product of the same brand at the advertised price if the exact item is not available.

What Proof You Need to Show

Bring the physical item to the store. You do not need to print anything or take photos. The Walgreens associate will use their own device or register to pull up the Walgreens.com price at that moment. Screenshots, printouts, and other documentation will not be accepted as proof. The validation must happen in real time at the register or customer service desk.

This means you should visit the store during Walgreens store hours when you know the item is in stock and when you can speak to an associate who can look up the price immediately.

Online vs. In-Store Prices

Online prices on Walgreens.com are exclusive to online orders and may differ from in-store prices. The price match policy only lets you request that your in-store purchase be adjusted to match the Walgreens.com regular price. You cannot request that an online order be adjusted to match an in-store price, nor can you price match an online order to another retailer.
